“On The sunday, she created god”

A transgressive coming of age story that is both brutal and beautiful. A punk, post-feminist, punch in the face. In her debut novel Gerii Pleitez’s visceral poetic imagery strikes at the heart of what it is to be young, to desire and to want purpose in a world which is often without.

On March 16th we launched Gerii Pleitez’s debut novel and indie publishing house Kara Sevda Press at Better Read Than Dead! We packed out one of the greatest bookstores in Australia with stacks of people and sold out our initial consignment in one night! Check the gallery.

Black Love

Kara Sevda Press is a fiercely independent publisher from Naarm (Melbourne), Australia. Our focus is on finding and empowering literary voices from Australian Women of Colour which have otherwise been deemed commercially unviable by the literary establishment.

We believe in representation and decolonising your bookshelves. We don’t need approval, permission, or acclaim to create. We are taking back our work from the slush piles.
